School of Visual and Performing Arts - Academy of Production and Managerial Arts
The Technical Theatre program at Santa Susana High School is a Career Technical Education (CTE) course that integrates academic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge to provide students with a pathway to postsecondary education and careers. Students are responsible for designing, building, and operating all live productions on campus while working under the supervision and guidance of industry professionals. Students will gain hands-on experience in stage management, technical direction, costume construction, lighting design, sound design, and rigging. Students will work across our various performance venues on campus using current industry-standard equipment.
Some of our equipment and workspaces include: Lighting- GrandMa on PC, ETC Ion, Whole Hog on PC Sound- Yamaha QL5, Yamaha LS9, Shure ULXD, Qlab Costuming- Fully equipped costume shop with large costume inventory Rigging- PAC is equipped with a counterbalance rigging system including 23 line sets. Scene Shop- Fully equipped scene shop including table saw, mitre saw, drills, impact drivers, and much more. Joining Technical TheatreA limited number of incoming 9th grade students are admitted each year. Students should request an interview by March 7th. Current students should talk with their counselors about joining the class.
